The experience for both the faculty and delegates of this wonderful Irish course is immeasurable with regard to the knowledge gained but most of all the warmth and comradery of the Irish colleagues.
This year the guest of honour was Seth Greenwald the master of experience and knowledge in bio-engineering, design and philosophy. His presentation on - “Research by another name: packing your own parachute” was the finale of the conference.
My presentation was entitled – “Is there a role for resurfacing arthroplasty?”- A challenging subject given the history of the failure and demise of large metal on metal hip devices over the past 10 years. The presentations on bearing surfaces and resurfacing arthroplasty were followed by a debate on the topic.
